Topics for study are:
- Parenthood
- Pregnancy
- Diet, health and care of the child
- Development of the child
- Support for the parent and child
Each candidate must complete:
- A portfolio of notes to reflect the two year course
- Two pieces of coursework – a child study and research task
Assessment
Written paper- 1½hour exam 40% of GCSE grade
Coursework – 60% of total GCSE grade
Coursework is produced under controlled conditions
*Research Task- set by the exam board 20% of coursework grade
*Child Study - 40% of coursework grade
During the course, students will be required to complete end of topic tests to help them to identify any areas where improvement is needed to achieve target grade.
