Introduction

The English department strives to develop students’ competence and confidence in speaking and listening, reading and writing. Students are encouraged to communicate effectively and appropriately using a variety of mediums. To enable and encourage students to extend their intellect, a variety of texts both traditional and modern are read and closely analysed. To promote an appreciation of the many powerful ways in which language can be used students complete many different written tasks and as English develops with the modern world students now express their ideas using digital technology and ICT.
