Room to Read ...... is a charity set up in 2000 to raise money to support the education of girls, and to improve literacy skills in developing countries by building reading rooms.  In ten years, they have raised enough money to enable local communities to build 10,000 libraries and reading froms in the nine countries where they operate, through local representatives.  All funds raised go direct to the local communities who will benefit.  The libraries are built with local materials, by local builders, providing jobs within the community.  The rooms are then stocked with books printed in the local language.

Room to Read's strapline is "WORLD CHANGE STARTS WITH EDUCATED CHILDREN"

Knole Academy is proud to support the Room to Read charity, and are aiming to raise £12,000 by 12th December 2012 (12.12.12!)  to build a library for a school in Zambia.

ANNOUNCING KNOLE INTERACT!

Knole Interact Club is the driving force behind our Room to Read fund raising campaign for 2012.  With members from across the school, it is off to an excellent start.  Club members have alreay built a book case to use for club displays and had a practice pancake making session in preparation for their first fund-raising event, a pancake sale on 20th February.  We are working on a new logo and ideas for a dynamic fund raising campaign which will ensure we meet our target of £12,000 by12-12-12.
