As Long As I Have Music

On the 24 June the Minstrels hosted a concert in the Sevenoaks Festival series joined not only by Tonbridge Community Singers and Hartfield Singers but for the first time our School Orchestra and the Chamber Choir.  The programme was an eclectic mix of music from all genres including the Orchestra playing the Blue Danube by Strauss, Disney favourites from the Lion King sung by the Minstrels, a marvellous rendition of the Beatles Hey Jude by Jamie Esparon, a beautiful close harmony arrangement of Somewhere over the Rainbow performed by the Chamber Choir with duets and trios highlighting not just the singing talent of our students but their playing ability too.

The Minstrels joined forces with Tonbridge Community Choir to deliver a medley of songs from Disney’s Aladdin.   The Tonbridge Community and Hartfield choirs sang from their wide range of repertoire from Gilbert and Sullivan to West Side Story by Bernstein.

There was a fun audience participation song led by Mrs Boyle singing Doh a Deer from the Sound of Music.

It was not just musical talent from Knole that shined, as the evening was compered by George Dennett, Sam Paredes-Larson, Immer French-Moore and Lily Eyre.  Lighting and sound were also provided by students Lewis Elliot and Oliver Howe.  Lewis also performed with George Dennett the duet Me and My Shadow.

The evening was a huge success and enjoyed by a strong audience.
