2018 Year 11 Prom

This year’s Year 11 Prom was held at Salomon’s Estate in Southborough. The weather was glorious, with the setting sun giving the perfect backdrop to the beautiful terrace and gardens, where students received a drinks reception on arrival. The effort that all students made to dress to impress has to be commended. The girls were resplendent in their prom gowns and dresses, hair and makeup on point, bringing a glamorous sparkle to the evening. High heels were the order of the day, but many did not last long, especially when the dancing started.

To match this, the boys were suited and booted, from stylish 3 piece numbers to the return of the velvet jacket. James Bond would have been proud!

The staff tried to match this sartorial eloquence, but were not quite up to the challenge.

Photos and selfies were taken in abundance, and then the party really started.

Mrs Boyle, Mrs Mountford and Mrs Mountford’s mother (who was at her first ever prom) kicked off the dancing and, once the dance floor was filled, it never emptied. The DJ obviously knew his stuff, with Bruno Mars, Daft Punk and Michael Jackson all huge floor fillers - blame it on the boogie.

After a punishing set of GCSE examinations, the Year 11s let their hair down in style. The Salomon’s staff commented on what a lovely group they were, and staff and students had tears in their eyes when the lights came down and goodbyes were said.

The reunion will be on results day in August, where we hope there will be more smiles and laughter.
